The morning’s theme was “social control and legislation concerning access to biodiversity”. Sylvia Rodriguez from the National University of Costa Rica gave a presentation on the biodiversity laws of Costa Rica. Oscar Zamora from the University of Los Banos presented the biodiversity laws from the Philippines and Senator Marina Silva (for Acre) described Brazilian legislation concerning access to biodiversity.

The theme for the afternoon is “proposals to strengthen social control of the use and repartition of the benefits of biodiversity”. Each region of the Growing Diversity project presented some of their proposals which then were debated and discussed.
In the evening the participants visited a local handicraft market. The highlight of the night was the “Forró”(Brazilian dance music) of biodiversity.
